Hip Tips for making this homemade ranch seasoning:

  • Consider adding more (or less) of each seasoning to adapt to your tastebuds. For a dairy-free version of this ranch seasoning, ignore buttermilk powder and combine everything as normal!
  • To make this a salad dressing, combine 1 tablespoon of mix with 1/3 cup milk and 1/3 cup mayonnaise. Substitute mayo with plain Greek yogurt for a healthy version!

And MSG free unlike that valley garbage!

Anyone know if there is an alternative to buttermilk powder if a person is lactose intolerant? I’d love to make this but can’t have buttermilk

    • nin

powdered rice milk, but might not thicken the same degree. Could always blend in tofu when adding the wet ingredients

      • SAFF

Maybe a few chia seeds? They thicken and have no taste.

    • breanna-2

I have left it out entirely. Just add a quarter cup more Mayo, vegan side or sour cream when you make the dressing same amount of milk or milk substitute.

  3. sÜe

Instead of mayo, substitute plain yogurt or sour cream for a healthier version.

    • Gina

      Thanks sue, good suggestion

    • Sarah

I always use plain Greek yogurt! Love it! No fat and tons more protein!

    • Gerta

Plain yogurt would be healthier. Sour cream definitely would NOT!!

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

      Great idea- thanks!

  4. Lisalyn

I was surprised it includes dill. Does it have a distinctive dill taste?

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Ranch dressing recipes do commonly include dill as well as other herbs, so it’s not unusual. i wouldn’t say you can’t specifically taste it strongly.

      • Lisalyn

        Thanks, Lina!

Can’t wait to try this. So excited to to maybe have ranch again. I won’t buy the ranch packets anymore. So this will be great.
