Looking for a perfect cold weather beverage that will also make your house smell awesome?! This Hot Spiced Wine does just that! I have to admit that I was initially thinking “Will red wine taste weird hot?” The answer is NO – it tastes Ah-mazing! It’s super easy to make and reminds me of hot spiced cider but only better. I will be making more soon for our New Year’s party. And keep in mind that you can definitely substitute non-alcoholic wine for this recipe and the end result is still awesome.

How to make spiced wine Hip2Save

Add all ingredients, except the wine, and bring to a boil. Then simmer for 30 minutes. Strain and add wine. Keep warm in crock-pot or cool & bottle. Will make 2 1/2 bottles. Yummy! :D

My Notes: I used half the sugar in this recipe and it still tasted wonderful. Also, I boiled the ingredients in a medium saucepan first then transferred to a slow cooker when I strained the liquid. I used a very inexpensive red cabernet wine from Cost Plus World Market. I also like to get really inexpensive (like under $5!) but good wine at Trader Joe’s and Grocery Outlet.
