Boozy Rum Gummy Bears

Looking for a fun and easy adult treat for New Year’s Eve?

Try soaking Gummy Bears in your favorite liquor to liven up your next party! They taste super yummy and are very easy to prepare in advance.

Ingredients:

Gummy Bears
Coconut Rum (or your favorite liquor)

Directions:

  • Place desired amount of gummy bears in a glass dish.
  • Pour rum so it barely covers candy and stir.
  • Cover and refrigerate over night or until desired consistency.
  • Place soaked bears in shot glasses to serve or small plastic containers with lids.
  • Drink or discard leftover infused rum 🙂

Note: You could also use vodka and have fun experimenting with different flavors of alcohol.

Gummy Bears happen to be my favorite candy, so I was excited to try this and it did not disappoint!  In fact, I can see how it would be easy to over indulge in these so be careful! lol 😉

What a fun treat for a party and a great alternative to Jell-O shots!

Now you got me thinking of vodka and Swedish fish 🤔

    • Christine

That works. I’ve had success with the gummy cola bottles and Jack Daniels. Also, strawberry licorice nibs and vanilla vodka. Just saying…

      • Jennifer

        Lifesavers gummy candy, yum!

        • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

          Great idea!

      • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

        Great ideas! Thanks Christine 😀

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

      Yum sounds good!

  2. Kelly

Sounds delicious!! What a great and simple idea!

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

      Thanks Kelly!

  3. Denise

Sugar rush and smashed at the same time..cool concept

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

      😀👍

  4. Colleen

We do gummy bears and vodka and let them
soak for at least 2 days. They are delicious!! For added fun used flavored vodka (cherry or something similar).

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

      Awesome! 👏

  5. for kids

Is it possible to do an non alchohilic version for kids and people who don’t drink? Any suggestions of what I could use?

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

Well for kids or N/A you could just serve some regular gummy bears in a cup with soda or sparkling cider. Cotton candy is fun too. My kids thought that was fun when we tried it last year. 😀

    • Michelle

Anything really, but takes the point out of it, just serve regular gummies. The liquid just makes them slimy, but slimy gummies that get you drink is a different story lol

    • RZ

We don’t drink, so we use Martinelli’s sparkling cider as a great alternative to booze at parties. Handing guests that abstain from alcohol regular gummy bears would just make them feel left out.

  6. Chris

How about just giving the kids a package of gummi bears?

  7. Elaine

Every person I know who has done this has ended up with a ton of uneaten bears. It grows old real fast and the texture gets gross. Make a small amount.

    • Jessica

Not with my friends and I!!! We always eat alllll of them and wish we would have made more and had some for the next day!!!! We are quadrupling our batch of gummies this year!! I’m so excited!! Thanks Lina for sharing and for reminding me of this!!! ❤️❤️

    • Lo

Maybe freeze the extras before they reach the point of no return?

    • Kb

Agreed. I think 10 got eaten out of the batch I made last year. They were slimy and no one wanted to touch them.

      • Lisa

Use food picks (like with appetizers) for them and they won’t need to touch them.

    • kate

Yep! I’ve never known anyone to actually enjoy or eat more than one of these, in the last 20 years

  8. dblD-amber

I would worry that kids would eat gummy bears by mistake if there was a adult and kids version at same party

    • Sarah L

That was my first thought too.

    • ash

I’d worry kids might grab some alcohol if you leave cans or bottles around! Seriously…use common sense and don’t leave alcohol around the kids and don’t have drinks around them if you can’t keep an eye on them.

  9. Tracy

I would just want the Gummi bears haha.

    • Laura

I’m with you! Why mess with perfection

  10. Leigh

In my experience, the container you let these soak in needs to be wide. Like a cookie sheet and let them soak one gummy bear thick, not in a cup or on top of each other. They don’t need to swim in the alcohol, they only need enough to absorb the alcohol.

  11. Rebecca

I did a small batch before & they turned out hard & inedible. Not sure what I did wrong, not enough liquid, left them too long? Anyone know? I currently have A LOT of homemade moonshine that’s taking up cupboard space lol.

  12. Kristin

This feels like a defining moment for me.

I must be an alcoholic because I just assumed everyone did this. Like this is a party staple right next to jello shots and beer.

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

Haha no maybe I’m just late to the party on this idea! Loved it 😂

  13. Ihearthip

Cool idea and love that it only takes 2 ingredients! But yeah, I would only have at an adult party so kids don’t get into them.

  14. Amanda

We also like to soak different fruits in alcohol. Very tasty as well!

  15. tab

Fwiw Sugar free gummies absorb more alcohol and are more tangy 🙂

    • Misty

Sugar free gummies will make you poop your guts out…
      Be careful! 😭😭💩💩

  16. Amy

Thanks for the idea Lina! I have to try it. Side note… First thought when I saw those gummies “oh she must have gotten those at Walgreens when Collin posted the deal last week” yup I am on hip2save ALOT 😳

  17. Amy

YUM! I have a life-long friend coming to visit me next week…. WE MIGHT NEED THESE! Thanks! 🙂

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

      Great Amy–enjoy!
