What’s more exciting than Prime Day deals?

How about earning some easy spending money to use towards your purchase come July 15th and 16th. Here are some super simple and smart ways to score at least $60 in Amazon credit to make Amazon Prime Day deals even more enticing!

1. Submit a Happy Friday idea for a chance at $10 eGift Card.

Share a frugal living tip with us via our Happy Friday series, and if we post your submission to the site, we’ll send you a $10 Amazon eGift card! Check out these tips to helping your chances of having your submission picked.

2. Spend $10 at Whole Foods for $10 in credit.

Back for another year, this popular promotion gets you $10 in Amazon credit to spend on Amazon Prime Day when you make a purchase of $10 or more at Whole Foods Market.

3. Consolidate prepaid cards onto one Amazon gift card.

If you have an assortment of prepaid cards in varying amounts, use them reload your Amazon Gift Card, and combine the varying values to spend all in one place.

To do this, just head over here and type in whatever remaining balance you have left on your card in the “$ Enter an Amount” field. Add the card to your cart and head to checkout, then add that prepaid card as your form of payment. Once the transaction is complete, you can delete that card from your account here.

“I took all my prepaid rebate cards that have random small amounts like $2.18 or $4.32 on them and reloaded my Amazon Gift Card balance. It’s so much easier than trying to keep track of the balance and have them charge that exact amount only at the store. I ended up with around $19 more to spend for Prime Day!” – Stacy

4. Score a $10 bonus when you reload $100 or more on an Amazon gift card.

First-time gift card reloaders earn a $10 bonus when adding $100 or more to an Amazon gift card connected with your Amazon account. Head over to their gift card offers page to see if you’re eligible.

5. Redeem loose change at Coinstar for Amazon gift cards.

Empty out those pockets, open up that piggy bank, flip your couch cushions, and bring all your loose change to the nearest Coinstar machine. Upon redemption, choose the Amazon Gift Card payout so you receive the full value of your change and have it ready to spend come July 15th.

6. Use the Amazon App (for the first time) for up to $25 in credit.

Newbies to the Amazon App can earn Amazon credit in 3 ways for a max of $25 offered:

  • $10 for signing into the Amazon app for the first time
  • $10 for making an in-app purchase
  • $5 for using the camera or Alexa features in the app

Check out the details and find out if you’re eligible on Amazon’s smartphone app promotions page.

7. Upload a photo to the Amazon Photo app for a $15 credit.

Eligible Prime members get a $15 promotional Amazon code by downloading the Amazon Photo app for the first time and uploading at least one image. Within 14 days of uploading, you’ll receive an email from Amazon with redemption instructions.

Keep in mind this offer expires July 31st though it can be redeemed through August 31st. Also, this credit can only be used on products sold by Amazon with an order total of $25 or more.

8. Potentially receive $5 with an Amazon $50 gift card purchase.

Great idea about the gift card leftovers! I never know how to spend the small amounts without a hassle.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

I know! I’m loving that tip too, Ashley!

      • Kate

I only see an option to load in 50, 100 etc denominations….anyone know if it’s possible/how to load random amounts?

        • me

There is a space to reload a custom amount where you can type in the random amount.

    • Michelle

You might check with your utility companies. My ISP allows me to pay my monthly internet bill with credit cards. There’s no minimum purchase amount, and no limit to the number of cards I can use, so I go there to spend my small amounts on prepaid cards. Whatever amount I owe after I apply the prepaid cards gets paid via autopay.

  2. Amy

Love tip #3! I never thought of doing that! Didn’t know you could do that with such small increments! Was very happy to get all the little $3 and $4 cards cleaned out of my wallet and make them usable!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh perfect! SO happy you can make use of them, Amy!

      • Sue

So for tip #3 can I take a Nordstrom gift card $121.00 value and load it onto a Amazon gift card???

Not really sure how all this works.

        Please let me know.

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi Sue! This will only work for the prepaid cards with credit card logos. Store gift cards will not work. Hope that helps!

          • Sue

            • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

              You’re welcome!

  3. M

One think to note about tip 3 is the minimum purchase is .50. Found out last year when I somehow randomly ended up with a card that has .16 left on it and I couldn’t use it for this😕

  4. Chrissy

How do you go about converting the prepaid cards to amazon gift cards? I didn’t know that was an option. Thanks for the tip!

    • Lisa

      I’m wondering the same thing.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi there! It looks like you can head over HERE and add your prepaid cards as a payment option when reloading your Amazon gift card. They do list that option in the details HERE. Hope that helps!

      • Chrissy

        Thank you so much!

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

You’re so welcome! Glad to help!

      • Chrissy

Okay, so I can turn a $50 prepaid card into an amazon gc then? Would I just enter that card number in as a payment method?

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

          Yes! That’s correct! 🙂

      • Lisa

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Great tips! I recommend Drop app for earning points toward gift cards. You link a credit card and it keeps track of purchases so you don’t have to submit receipts (huge bonus!) Tons of places is to earn rewards – I get most points from grocery shopping because we buy so much food every week and I don’t have to make certain purchases, it’s based on total spent. Please use my referral code – 4bahq 😘

    • Renee

Oh and you’ll get $5 in points at sign up

      • R

I use this app as well. If you might use my code that would be great (if I’m allowed to post it?) Code: 0cdjn

        • kspwife859

Used your referral code! Thank you!

          • R

            Thank you 🙂

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

      Thanks for the suggestion, Renee!

    • Shyann

Thanks. I will use your referral.

    • Tammie

Is Publix and Aldi not on the list for Drop?

  6. m

I hope I get the 10.00 for first time app use 🙂

  7. Suzanne

The prepaid gift card idea is brilliant, thank you! I always worry about how to use the exact amount, without going over, or wasting any money by coming in under- it’s like The Price is Right!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      LOL! You’re welcome, Suzanne!

  8. mel

Just a side tip… All those prepaid cards, I convert them over to store GC’s as soon as I get them. Usually to CVS, Walmart, Target, or even Amazon! I hate having those little random amounts. I feel so silly telling the cashier there’s only fourteen cents left, but I’m not just throwing that change away!!

  9. kspwife859

These tips are fantastic, thank you Team Hip2Save! I’ve been with y’all for 6 years and the deals just keep coming. My family and friends sure see the benefits. Another reward program I like it Fetch Rewards. In 3 months I’ve earned two gift cards to Bass Pro & Sephora that were super helpful for Father’s Day gifts and a little something for me too. Fetch Rewards uses a top-notch scan feature that is so seamless and you can also link it to your email to look for Amazon purchases. I like that I can get the rewards after purchases online or with a paper receipt. , instead of remembering to shop through a specific app. If you’d like, please go to Fetch Rewards in the App Store and use my referral code for extra bonus points.

    Happy shopping!

    • Mary

I used your code. Thank you for letting us know about this app.

    • Kara

I used your code Mammamia. If anyone else signs up, here’s mine:) XX7CR

I do amazon turk surveys, $10,000 in 2 1/2 years (I work from home…I do them between calls.)

    • BaliBeast

Hi can you share a little bit more about how Amazon Turk works?

      • Sue

Yes I would like to know too.

  12. CeacyM

Anyone ever have any issues using Coinstar for a gift card? I had a friend who knew the amount of change she had but the Coinstar machine said she had quite a bit less.

    • Melissa

Coinstar works by taking a percentage of the change you submit.

  13. RDHarris

Consolidating gift cards – freckin ingenious! Thanks for the tip … I also downloaded the picture app 😊

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

      You are welcome, RDHarris!

  14. Darla

I was reading the reviews for the photo app because somebody didn’t get the reward. I looked at the fine print and for the photo app bonus it states this “Customers who were forwarded this offer from parties other than Amazon may not be eligible for this offer.”

Any thoughts?? I don’t want to download it if I don’t get the reward. Thank you!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

If you click through the link, and scroll down to under the photo, it will say if you are eligible or not. For example, if you are not eligible it will say, “Sorry, you are not eligible for this offer. This is a limited-time offer for customers who meet the eligibility criteria for this promotion. Our records indicate that you are not eligible for this offer.” Hope this helps, Darla!

  15. Melissa Augusta

I installed the amazon photos app and uploaded photos in hopes. Of getting a $15 Giftcard toward prime day. However, it is saying that redemption instructions may not come for up to 14 days. How can I use that toward prime day that is a day and a half away? Thank you.
