More Black Friday

Black Friday 2020 is going to be different this year.

Every retailer is competing for your business on Black Friday (AKA – the biggest shopping event of the year). With COVID precautions still at a high, we’re predicting many people will be opting for online shopping from home this season. Now more than ever, knowing which deals are actually worth your hard-earned money is crucial.

Do it right this year and read on for the best & smartest shopping tips to get the most (and spend the least) out of your virtual Black Friday shopping experience!

Black Friday is on November 27th, 2020.

First and foremost… make sure you text the word “HOT” to (775) 204-0125 to get all the HOTTEST deals delivered to your phone this season & beyond!

New this year, our texting system is going to be the hottest & fastest way to be the very first to know about the best deals you absolutely won’t want to pass up! As Black Friday & Cyber Monday approach, you can expect multiple texts a day for some of the hottest deals, in-stock alerts, and much more! 🔥

The only way to score the hottest deals of the season is by texting the word “HOT” to Collin’s number – (775) 204-0125

As some of you know, we’ve already started the fun with early bird Christmas sales, so don’t waste another minute to start texting with her!

Here are 9 more ways to save big on Black Friday 2020:

1. Watch for Black Friday ad scan leaks.

Stores start to release their Black Friday ads weeks before the massive shopping event. In fact, Walmart already announced theirs and deals are starting November 4th, 2020 – that’s the earliest we’ve seen yet!

Ad scans give you plenty of time to make note of the deals you’d like to score online (or in-store if that’s where you’re headed). Ads also help you start planning your list and setting an ideal budget – plus which sites you’ll be heading to first.

Check out our ad release predictions from last year for an idea of potential releases this year.

2. Download our FREE Hip2Save app to keep your budget in check.

Creating your plan, setting your budget, and sticking to it is arguably the most important factor when holiday shopping and our app can help… BIG TIME.

Outlining your goals for the big Black Friday event (and being responsible with your spending) makes for a stress-free experience. We sure know it’s way too easy to find a “great deal” (or 14 😉) and before you know it, your cart is brimming with impulse buys.

With our FREE Hip2Save smartphone app, you can create virtual envelopes and keep each portion of your budget on track! It doesn’t get any easier, friends!

Hip Tip: Not only do you need our FREE app, but you also need to make sure you’re subscribed to our email list. We’ll send out exclusive and can’t miss deals so you’re always in the loop.

Did you know year after year we tirelessly collect all of the pricing and data for the best Black Friday deals? We even compile them all into one large printable for you (broken down into categories) so you know you’ll get the best prices on the hottest Black Friday deals.

We’ve got you covered down to the pennies. 🙌

As the shopping date nears, we’ll update our list for 2020 with fresh new deals as they pop up, but in the meantime, you can check out last year’s Black Friday Price Comparison Cheat Sheet to get an idea of what you can expect real soon.

5. Price match where possible if you’re doing some shopping in-store.

Best Buy store front with receipt

If you’re headed in-store this year to get your hands on a hot deal you just can’t miss, make sure you’re Price matching where possible. In fact, we’re even expecting to see some new features like curbside pickup if you don’t want to physically go into the store. Sweet!

Here are a few great reasons to price match:

  • It saves you a trip to multiple stores. And now more than ever, none of us want to go to more places than we need to.
  • It allows you to use specific store credit cards or gift cards in your wallet.
  • You can use a rewards account at a store that has better benefits over another.

A few stores offering price matching to Amazon include Dick’s Sporting Goods, Target, Best Buy, and Kohl’s. Before you step out the door, call your local store ahead of time to make sure they honor price matching for Black Friday deals. Also, ask about any restrictions or additional details to their policy that could apply especially with COVID present.

6. Know each store’s deal specialty.

Historically, certain stores have offered the best deals in different product categories (specifically with JCPenneyMacy’s, and Kohl’s offering the highest percentage of savings). This will also help you know which sites to head to first once the virtual shopping extravaganza begins!

Here’s which deals some popular stores are known for:

7. Use discounted gift cards to sweeten the deal.

Kohl's gift cards

Stretch your potential savings by using discounted gift cards on your purchases. Sites like Raise.com are great for finding savings on retailer credit. Even better, almost all of the gift cards you’ll score are able to be used for online orders. Win, win!

Look, we know life it’s crazy right now, so if you really want to limit the amount of effort you’re putting into your Black Friday shopping and just need really great deals, then head over to our site’s deals on discounted gift cards here. There you’ll find the latest and greatest gift card finds you won’t want to miss!

8. Dress the part.

woman working in pajamas on the computer

As we’ve said before, we know that majority of Black Friday shoppers will be making all their purchases online this year. We highly encourage you to dress in some warm, comfy clothes to get the full virtual Black Friday experience. 😊

We recently shared our favorite pajamas to wear while we work from home and we think you should treat yourself to a pair (or two) while you get your Black Friday shopping on. Top it off with some fuzzy slippers and you’ll be ready to hit the online stores in no time. 😉

Don’t forget to mask up if you’re headed for some in-store shopping. Pack some snacks, the best hand sanitizer, and stay safe, friends!

9. Keep your receipts!

woman pointing at screen with mouth open

After the adrenaline rush is over, you may realize that you got caught up in the Black Friday craziness and purchased items that you don’t really want or need (it’s easy to do and we totally get it). If you keep all of your online receipts in a special folder on your phone or desktop, you MAY be able to initiate a return and get a full refund depending on the store’s policy.

Psst…These stores & brands have excellent return policies! 👏

Never miss a deal with us!

You can stay up to date on all the best Black Friday deals here! (Psst…some stores have already announced they’re starting early this year!)

I’m needing a good deal on an Apple Watch or Fitbit. Any good sales there?

    • Erica

If you end up buying from Apple, see my comment about gift cards. The Apple Store now accepts iTunes cards.

    • JenK.

Hey something we done that’s worked out great for us is we applied through our apple wallet on our phones for the apple credit card. You get 3% cash back on all apple purchase through apple PLUS 24 months interest free payments. The cash back comes daily also on this card. 1% on card swipes 2% on apple pay transactions and 3% on apple purchases and a few other promotions. The kids are getting the apple watch for Christmas this year.

    • WendyH

Last year I got one at Costco (the Versa2) it was around $130 and I never saw a lower price anywhere

    • Heather

The newest fitbit will be on sale at Costco and BJs for Black Friday. Instore on Friday. Online on Thanksgiving.

  2. Erica

I’d like to add, buy gift cards to plan spending and earn gas points. I drove across country last year paying $1/gallon for gas.

  3. Sue

Isn’t Target having their Black Friday sale on November 1 this year?

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

The official Black Friday date is November 27th, but stores seem to be doing them early or all month long.

  4. Pat Robbins

Does anyone know if Amazon price matches? I found a toy $14 less at Walmart and I had already purchased with amazon. I had the toy shipped to Denver for Granddaughter’s Christmas. Any ideas except buy at Walmart and send toy back to Amazon. Thanks

    • Julie

      Call amazon and ask

    • rocme2

No, it’s a crapshoot if they’ll even price match their own website 😕

    • Patricia Sennett

Be careful to buy at Walmart to return to Amazon; often both of those Sellers may have requested and received a UPC BarCode specific to them. Product is the same as well as packaging HOWEVER different.

  5. Brigitte

I can’t get the text to come through. I wonder if it’s my carrier? 🙁 Republic Wireless

    • Michelle King

Fellow republic wireless subscribe here. It’s not working for me either.

      • Brigitte

Thanks Michelle- I really appreciate you replying. It helps to know I’m not the only one.

        • willowcat

I’m on ATT and I don’t get H2S texts either, despite trying.

          • Brandy

I have Verizon and I don’t get them either. 🙄🙄🙄

            • Elsa3

Same here. No text. Verizon. I received confirmation that I’m signed up but never a text about a deal.

              • Mel

Same here I’ve tried a bunch of times. I do get a bunch from another deal site so I don’t believe it’s a carrier issue.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh darn! Sorry to hear that. Maybe try giving your carrier a call to see if they may be able to look into it for you.

      • Ap927

I’ve seen all the major carriers listed. Maybe it’s worth looking into on your end as well. 🙂 I never receive the texts either.

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for the feedback! We have been looking around and found another tip that may work! Try texting STOP and then START. That may get the texts working for you again!

          • Ana

I did get them but I’m pacific time and the texts came in too early so I stopped it, today I tried resigning up and it’s a no go. I have Verizon.

    • Brandy

I’m Verizon and I don’t get the deal alerts either. 🙄🙄🙄

      • Chele

Thank you for sharing. I’m Verizon too and thought it was just me.

      • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi Brandy! Try texting STOP and then START. That may do the trick!

    • Lisa

      I don’t get text either😢Sprint

    • Wakingdesign

Tmobile here and I’ve tried 3 different times and never get the texts either.

      • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Bummer! I have Tmobile and I do get the texts. Be sure to try texting STOP and then START. It looks like that may work better for some.

  6. Michelle King

I would add do you’re homework. Just because it’s a “good deal” doesn’t mean it’s a good product. Walmart for example has a tv priced really well and it has terrible reviews!

    • GlammourMommy

Which tv? Was looking at one and watched some reviews and it seemed ok want to make sure I don’t buy a lemon lol

    • GlammourMommy

Which tv? Was looking at one and watched some reviews and it seemed ok want to make sure I don’t buy a lemon lol

  7. Missy

Just wondering tall for Wal-Mart so you log in to one line ( i want a tv) and I seen the add they only have11 at each store. How does it work? Plus is it East time. Im in central time zone. I usually am working so never done this. Thabks

    • CBethS

Usually the ad list a minimum per store. So when they say 11, there is at least that many per store. Not limited to that many.

    • CBethS

And if the sale online starts at 7 pm Eastern, It will be 6 pm CST ( I think.)

  8. Sunflower

Hi. Thanks for sharing. A little off the subject. Do you know if it will be best to purchase a cell phone (iPhone 11 pro max) at a carrier (such as Verizon) or is it best to take advantage of a store (such as Wal-Mart) that will offer a gift card promotion with a purchase? I recall a post the best time of the year to buy certain items. I’ve been researching the prices now compared to the sales. I’m trying to hold out, but I know I will have to purchase a phone real soon. Thanks.

    • kwags14

Interested in this as well. Hopefully they will have some good deals. As need a new phone as well.

  9. Andrea

Does anyone know what time Best Buy’s Black Friday sale goes live on the 22nd? Also what time zone. Thank you.

  10. ChristinaB.

I am literally drooling over these deals and I am actively looking for deals that are going to make my gaming experience better. My specs are: Core 2 Quad Q8300 @2.53 GHz / Nvidia GT 520 1 GB DDR3 / 8 GB DDR3 RAM / SSD / 1280×1024 native resolution. Anyhow, I was able to bag a 5-year plan of Gaming VPN for $89 only from PureVPN with 31-day money back guarantee. Makes me wonder if I want to get a whole rig in deal.

  11. Jhawkeye

I signed up for text alerts and got email back that we are texting buddies but then no deals texted. I tried signing up again and same thing. Is it working for anyone?

    • Radtechie

Hasn’t worked for me either. I’m on Sprint. No problem getting any other texts but don’t get these 😔 Have even had my phone tested and reset.

    • BlueLexus

It’s working for me. I have T Mobile.

  12. Sharon

Hey Colin and crew! Don’t forget about the Cheesecake Factory gift cards! I picked up a couple and can’t wait to use them. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to use the free slices earlier this year due to COVID-19. But nonetheless, a great deal!

  13. Ap927

I texted you guys back in May. I received a response from you but then never received a text again. I hope it works this time.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

I hope so too! If not, try texting STOP and then START. Hoping that might work out better!

  14. Kell80

Doesn’t work for Sprint either. I keep trying every couple of weeks though!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Bummer! SO sorry to hear that.

  15. wrafferty

I’ve texted several times and get nothing back. Not sure why.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi there! Maybe try to text STOP and then START. Hoping that does the trick!

  16. saran4advt

I also have sent the text many times. The only message I get is we are text buddies one and I never receive any deal message at all

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

DARN! Have you tried texting STOP and then START again? If still having issues, be sure to contact your carrier as they may be able to help.

  17. Emily Gonzalez-Abreu

Looking for good deals on patio furnitures.

  18. Dan

Hi. I successfully receive the text messages…but they come in parts…oftentimes the link is in two messages and I can’t click on the link. Does anybody know how to set my settings to received the message in one text. I’m an android uder6. Thx

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

It sounds like it might be your carrier. Maybe some other readers have similar issues and can help out, Dan.
